The Prosuma Group – Société Ivoirienne de Promotion de Supermarchés – is the leading modern supermarket chain in Côte d’Ivoire. The Ivorian company was founded in 1966 with its first chain, and today has 159 stores under 17 banners, and manages four shopping centers in Abidjan.
Prosuma is leaded by the Kassam and Fakhry families.
A family history open to the international
From 20 million CFA francs at its creation, Prosuma’s share capital has been successively increased to reach today 10,050,000,000 FCFA, or 15,321,126 Euros. At 31/12/2018, shareholders’ equity stood at 23.03 billion FCFA, or 35,106,999 Euros.

- BON BAZAR opens its doors.
- MONOPRIX joins the group with the opening of its first MONOP ‘IVOIRE store.
- A sixth CASINO MANDARINE opens its doors: CASINO AMBASSADE.
- The CASH IVOIRE banner is transformed into a CASH IVOIRE U store, with a new visual identity and the integration of U products into the assortment.
- 2020
2 SUPER U supermarkets are born: Cash Center DJIBI becomes SUPER U DJIBI and CASH CENTER Plateau becomes SUPER U Plateau.
- 2019
The U brand joins the PROSUMA GROUP. The SOCOCE hypermarket becomes the first HYPERMARCHE U in West Africa.
- 2018
A third CASINO supermarket is opened, as well as a fifth CASINO MANDARINE on the Riviera golf course.
- 2017
Two more CASINO MANDARINE open.
- 2016
Prosuma unveils a new banner: the world’s first Casino Mandarine concept. A second store will follow a few months later.
- 2015
Prosuma signs a partnership with FNAC, a French specialist in the distribution of cultural and high-tech products.
- 2014
Expansion of Cap Sud to accommodate new retail space and transform the Super Hayat supermarket into a hypermarket called Hyper Hayat.
- 2012
Prosuma establishes a strong partnership with Casino, a leading international retailer. The first Casino store opened in the new Cap Nord shopping center in September 2012. Second Mediastore and Sony open.
- 2008
Acquisition of “La Galerie”. The entire shopping center comes under the Cap Sud umbrella.
- 2000
Opening of the Cap Sud shopping center, adjacent to “La Galerie”. Opening of the first Mediastore.

Prosuma creates S2P, a 75%-owned company, to take over the Club Sococé stores.
- 1998
Prosuma opens its capital to Groupe Mercure International de Monaco, headed by Mr. Adnan Houdrouge.

The Kassams and the Fakhrys decide to merge their two groups. “We realized that we had converging visions for the development of commerce in Côte d’Ivoire, and that we shared the same values”, says one of the directors. “It seemed logical to synergize our assets and resources. We therefore decided to merge to create a Group rich in all its components,” adds the Chairman and CEO.

Opening of the Super Hayat supermarket in the “La Galerie” shopping center.

The Fakhry family, who had taken over another outlet, “le Froid Industriel” on the Plateau, brings it under the Trade Center banner.
- 1982
The Fakhry family opens its first supermarket in the Trade Center building on the Plateau.
- 1966
The Kassam family, who built the Nour al Hayat building, opens their first store in Plateau.
